Background Check;

May we get to meet you; who is Faizat Hussein?

Faizat Hussein is a Brand strategist and Content Marketer. I work with brands and entrepreneurs to develop their overall brand position online to create an authoritative personality and generate leads.

Can you please tell us about your background?

I was born in Ogun state before I moved down to Osun State when I was eight years old, and since then, I have been in Osun State. I grew up as my mum being the breadwinner of my family, and I saw how much she struggled, so I decided not to wait till I get older before I started taking control of my life.

Briefly tell us about your educational background.

Currently, I am a student at the federal university of Technology Akure. A 400-level student, and my discipline are Urban and Regional Planning.

What do you do for a living?

I focus on  Personal Branding for Companies and Social  Media Optimization as an expert in LinkedIn, which was a certificate for LinkedIn. Also, I am a marketing insider on LinkedIn.

What do you enjoy most about being a brand strategist?

One thing I love about being a brand strategist is telling a story…. People like to connect with authentic people. They want to know who is behind the screen. As a brand strategist, it is my job to show the world the uniqueness of my clients. That is the best part of being a brand strategist, showing people who you are and being authentic to attract sales and visibilities.

How do you handle pressure when a client’s job is not done?

I don’t have any experience with client pressure because I always have a do-schedule list that dedicates what time I should do something in other not to be pressurized. Also, when I feel overwhelmed with tasks, I will not accept any jobs until I finish the ones with me. I am a perfectionist, so I love it when my client doesn’t have to complain about my job. So whatever I know will pressure me, I will keep it on hold until I’m done with the task with me.

Can you share a time you were at work and thought, “I love doing this; I can’t believe I’m getting paid right now?

When I started doing posts on LinkedIn, it was only about writing because I love writing and storytelling. Then, the Ceo of an international company messaged me to pay me 250 dollars to post content on his page. That was the first job I received on LinkedIn. I mean, this is what I do for fun, and seeing a payment offer, I was so excited. That prompted me to pursue a career in branding.

Was there a career setback you faced that you later realized was an advantage?

Yes, I once had a career breakdown. That was when I lost my first writing job and also stopped writing with Gamerant for over two months. I was jobless; I had to rely on my parent. I was disturbed that I used to give my siblings money, and now I had to rely on my parent for money. It was very disheartening, but during that period, I discovered my marketing skills and that made my career outburst.

Do you think brands will suffer visibility and growth without a brand strategist?

Of course, yes. Brands will suffer without a brand strategist. I mean, some brands create content in the name of creating content, they don’t know whether the content will work for their brand, or they don’t even know the aim of their target audience or anything about their content. They just write it there because people are writing content and are getting visibility. They neither know how to direct that content nor have good branding not to talk of ways to establish trust with their target audience.

There is a difference between being seen and being engaged. Your content might be seen but, is it engaging?

Being seen can determine your post impression, but the engagement is really what will attract you to your audience.

What do you like doing in your spare time?

In my spare time, I love reading novels, particularly mystery novels. Also, I love watching horror movies and other anime And yes, I am a huge fan of anime movies. It supersedes any movies.

Describe yourself in one word?

If I am to describe myself in one word, it would be Authentic because I am not scared to share who I am with the world. I am not scared to tell people about my ups and down. That has kept me going for a long period. Being genuine to my followers and the people who support me.

Can you share with us an embarrassing moment where you were able to laugh at yourself?

My embarrassing moment was when I had my first interview with an international company. It was my first interview, and I was so nervous about it. I knew what I wanted to say, but I wasn’t told that I would have the interview with Four more interviewers. When they started, I saw four people asking me questions, I was so nervous and embarrassed because of the language barrier. I could barely hear them, and they were asking multiple questions. I felt pressured, and I had to opt out of the interview. It was a funny but embarrassing moment.

Describe life in one word.

Life is a journey because I’m not where I was yesterday, and definitely, in the next two years, I won’t be where I am now. So, it is a journey for me to continue going until I reach the end.

Which five companions, dead or alive, would you like to invite to a dinner party?

I will take my mum, my two siblings and two friends.

In what ways are people from your industry making a difference in the world?

Branding has expanded to the extent that every company and individual makes use of my industry, brand, and marketing. In business, you need this industry for growth and visibility.

What are some of your achievements?

Some of my Achievements include earning a LinkedIn insider certificate, and I was nominated for an Executive MBA award from the Mastermind Business School in London. I also Founded a community called LinkClique. It is a community that consists of people who are intentional about branding and lots more

Where do you hope to be in the next four years?

In four years, I see myself completely done with my Masters’s outside Nigeria, I also see my community LinkClique grow way beyond what it is now, and I also see myself working with various international companies in building their brands. I also see my page above what it is right now, and In the next four years I hope it reaches a point where it will be able to speak for me when I am not on LinkedIn or even when I am not around. I also see myself attending the international event and networking.
