Britney Spears’ won a huge victory Wednesday, Sept 29, as her dad was officially removed as conservator of her $60 million estate after 13 years.

During the latest court hearing in the long-running dispute, the judge in Los Angeles said it was in Spears’ “best interests” to remove her father from the legal agreement, adding that the “current situation is untenable” and “reflects a toxic environment”.

A hearing on whether to terminate the conservatorship entirely has also been set for later in the year.

In the meantime, a new conservator of Britney’s estate has been appointed on a temporary basis. His name is John Zabel, a CPA handpicked by Rosengart.

The decision is a huge victory for the star, who spoke out against her father during dramatic court hearings in June and July, claiming she had been medicated against her will and denied the right to have children.

Britney’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, has pushed for an investigation into the conduct of those who have administered the conservatorship, which has been in place since 2008 after Britney was said to have suffered a mental breakdown.

Rosengart accused Jamie Spears of committing shocking abuse and also of mismanagement during his tenure as conservator.

Rosengart especially raged over recent allegations Jamie engineered a scheme to secretly record Britney in her bedroom. Rosengart says there were conversations between Britney and her kids that were captured and he called it “unfathomable.”

Britney’s father, Jamie, tried arguing the conservatorship should end today, but Rosengart objected. The attorney wants to hold Jamie accountable for possible misappropriation of assets, among other things, and he wants the conservatorship in place until he can investigate.

The judge agreed with Rosengart and suspended Jamie. She also ordered Jamie to turn over all the books and records during his time as conservator so Rosengart can pour through them.

After Jamie was suspended, Britney’s fiance Sam Asghari celebrated on social media, congratulating Britney.
